Studying Yoga in an Ashram
Training in an ashram setting can provide a unique opportunity to deepen one’s yoga practice and personal growth journey in a transformative environment. By stepping out of one’s daily life and routines, students can create space to fully immerse themselves in their studies and gain a deeper understanding of the principles of yoga. The structured routine of an ashram, including regular meditation, yoga practice, and satsang (group discussion), can help cultivate discipline, focus, and deeper understanding. Additionally, the communal living arrangements and shared activities create opportunities for students to form close bonds with like-minded individuals and develop a sense of belonging to a supportive community. By embracing new spiritual routines and practices, students can gain a deeper connection to themselves and others, and bring these lessons back into their daily lives. Overall, training in an ashram setting can be a profound and life-changing experience, providing the space, structure, and community needed to deepen one’s practice, transform one’s mindset, and awaken to one’s true potential.

Carley De Goede
I found a Yoga practice during a time in my life where I felt lost. Yoga helped guide me back to myself. My yoga mat was my safe space to feel into my body and emotions in a way I couldn’t anywhere else. My practice profoundly shifted my perception of my physical body and helped guide me to my first stages of Eating Disorder recovery. This shift of perception expanded beyond the peace I made with my physical body, and into how I can now approach myself without expectation or judgement. I learned how to let myself just be. Just being, however you are, is enough.
I gained so much healing from the teachers I practiced with and doing my Teacher Training peeled back many new layers of self-acceptance, bravery and confidence that I didn’t know were there. I found my voice. Upon completion of my first YTT I knew I wanted to give back and offer the healing I had received through yoga. I consider myself a lifelong student of yoga and will forever be looking to deepen my knowledge of this beautiful tradition.
I am passionate about both Indian and Chinese philosophy and mythology/metaphysics.
My teaching takes inspiration from all the teachers I have learned from and the lineages I have been lucky enough to study which include Ashtanga, Iyengar, Traditional Hatha, Trauma Informed, Jivamukti, Yin and Restorative yoga.
Off the mat I am a Certified Master Chinese Medicine Face Reader, and Facial Reflexologist. I have studied the Lymphatic System and how to build Immunity through touch and movement, these things often flow into my yoga teaching.
I am currently studying to become a Certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT) in the Advanced Yoga Therapy Program at the Breathing Deeply Yoga School in New York.
